Dans le Noir? opens its first restaurant in America, in Mexico City

Dans le Noir ? continues its international expansion with the opening of its first restaurant on the American continent, in Mexico City, in partnership with the Sofitel Mexico City Reforma. From September 24, 2026, guests will be able to enjoy a unique gastronomic and human experience: dining in total darkness, served by a team of blind or visually impaired guides. 

The principle remains the one that has made the brand's reputation since its creation: plunging guests into complete darkness, without knowing in advance what they are going to eat, to restore their rightful place to the other senses. A format already proven in 15 cities around the world, and which is being installed for the first time in America. 

Since 2004, Dans le Noir ? welcomed more than 3 million guests around the world. Already present in 9 countries and 15 cities — including Paris, London and Geneva — the internationally recognized brand continues its development with this first establishment in America.   

The restaurant welcomes its guests on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, from 7 p.m. As in all Dans le Noir ? restaurants, the menu, here in 4 courses, remains a total surprise until the last bite. Designed to awaken the senses in a different way, it can also be accompanied by a food & wine pairing.

Deprived of sight, guests are invited to rest on their other senses, to rediscover the pleasure of tasting and to concentrate fully on the flavours, textures and exchanges around the table. Without visual cues, guessing what is on your plate becomes a game in its own right, often shared and debated with the rest of the table before being revealed at the end of the meal. 

The Dans le Noir ? experience is also an invitation to share a moment with others. Guests take their places around shared tables, with other people, creating a setting conducive to meetings and exchanges. Private tables can also be offered on request, depending on availability. 

Plunged into darkness, the usual landmarks disappear and leave more room for voice, listening and sensations. A question, a discovery, a burst of laughter: the exchanges take on another dimension and are created naturally over the course of the experience. It is not uncommon for guests to leave with the memory of an unexpected meeting or conversation, born around the same table, in the dark. 

At the heart of the Dans le Noir ? experience, blind and visually impaired guides play an essential role: they are the ones who accompany the guests throughout the meal, orient them, reassure them and guide them in the dark.

The restaurant is located within the Sofitel Mexico City Reforma, on the iconic Paseo de la Reforma, one of the most recognizable avenues in the Mexican capital. Distinguished with a Michelin Key, the hotel offers 275 rooms and suites, a Club Millésime, a L'Occitane spa and a heated swimming pool with a view of the city's rooftops.
