Highlights from the dinner-concert in the dark with Pierre Fontenelle

On Saturday, January 25th, 2025, the restaurant Dans le Noir ? Luxembourg once again invited guests into a remarkable sensory experience: a dinner-concert in total darkness, led by the extraordinary Pierre Fontenelle. After the success of the previous edition, the cellist returned to elevate the evening with a rich repertoire blending Bach’s timeless melodies, folk influences, and contemporary compositions.

From the moment they arrived, participants were guided by our visually impaired waiters to their tables, preparing for a truly out-of-the-ordinary adventure. In complete darkness, the resonant notes of Pierre Fontenelle’s prestigious 1690 Ruggieri cello echoed with intensity, taking each guest on a deep and sensory musical journey.

Between each piece, guests were invited to enjoy a mystery menu carefully crafted by our chef, heightening the sense of discovery and amplifying the magic of the moment.

The emotion was tangible throughout the evening. Some guests rediscovered music in an entirely new way, feeling every vibration more intensely without visual cues. Others were spellbound by Pierre Fontenelle’s talent and the depth of his performance.

After dinner, a final piece was played in the light, allowing guests to finally put a face to the unforgettable performance. The final debrief held one last surprise: the reveal of the dishes enjoyed during the meal, often different from what guests had imagined.

Once again, this dinner-concert proved that darkness can be a powerful amplifier of emotions. The fusion of music and gastronomy created a true symphony of the senses, leaving guests with unforgettable memories.
