The 17th edition of the Randstad Foundation Awards took place on June 8, 2022. Winner of the award for the inclusion of people with disabilities, Dans le Noir ? was celebrated for its innovative and inclusive concept.

Since 2004, these awards have recognized initiatives promoting inclusion. For this 17th edition, the ceremony was held at the Rafael del Pino Auditorium.

During an evening full of emotion and inspiration, Dans le Noir ? was honored in the category “professional integration of people with disabilities by an SME,” one of six award categories.

Thanks to its pioneering concept, this restaurant where guests dine in complete darkness stood out as a committed player, promoting the employment of people with disabilities and raising public awareness through an immersive and original experience.

In Dans le Noir ? restaurants, guests dine in total darkness, guided by blind or visually impaired servers. This unique sensory journey encourages people to rediscover their senses through a surprise menu. But it’s also a human encounter: here, social roles are reversed, and guests must trust their guide. The darkness removes visual prejudice, encouraging authentic exchange between diners and their server.

Being served by visually impaired staff in the dark dining room, or by deaf servers on the terrace, allows everyone to realize the abilities hidden behind disability.

Maria Viver, Director of the Randstad Foundation, stated: “There is a perfect synergy between people with disabilities and companies that want to build the future.”

At Dans le Noir ?, we turn diversity and inclusion into a source of innovation, viewing disability as an asset and a driver of creativity. Every individual has unique talents, and it is essential to recognize this potential above all.

Every day, we prove that behind a disability lies a wide range of skills. This award is a valuable recognition of our mission and the positive message of inclusion we strive to share. It shows that disability can be a strength for a company. We sincerely thank the Randstad Foundation for this honor.
